Creative Strengths

One of my creative strengths in this term was my harmonies on some of our songs. For

example, in Valerie when we did it live me and Alex did harmonies and i did the highest

one and Alex did a 5th below that and on the recording me and Eva did octaves so Eva did

the highest octave and I did the lowest octave and Alex did the 5th in-between that to

create a 3 part harmony. This is good for me because now I know how to do it and apply

this to my band outside of college and future bands within college.

My second creative strength was playing lead guitar whiles I was singing when playing

guitar. For example, in Valerie I did backing vocals in the chorus whiles I was playing the

riff and on top of this I was doing a harmony and I was proud of myself as it's a hard

rhythm to play and keep the vocals in time with as I am multi-tasking with 2 different

rhythms. I also think my main vocal on lucy in the sky with diamonds was quite good.

However, singing and playing is still something I want to improve on as I think I can be

more comfortable singing higher notes and playing and working on staying on key more

when do8ing two different rhythms

Professional Strengths

On of my professional strengths in this term was my communication with my band. For

example, we worked well together on putting to make you feel my love together as a

band as we didn't have any ideas, but we used a bit of trial and error as a band to make

sure the whole band was playing, and it started to sound good. We also communicated

well with all agreeing that we will decide on our 4th song after we have learnt our 3 covers

given to us.

Another professional strength of mine was my leadership within the band. For example,

when we first started I took charge in us getting songs ready and by the end of the first

week, we had all our 4 songs done and just ready to tidy up. I also made sure we didn't do

sections wrong and made us rehearse that section over and over to make sure it was

tighter than it was before hand which would usually work. I was also given a job role as a

manager so I ran my band and how they did their roles to.

Creative Areas for Development

One of my creative areas for development is that I need a greater understanding of singing ,as I am quite new to singing and only have been doing it for the past 2 years i feel like I am now as well versed in everything I need to know as I am self-taught, so a creative area for development is to perhaps look at getting singing lessons in the future.

Anther creative area for development is that I need a greater understanding of music theory, I think I know quite a lot when it comes to scales and chord progressions but i would like to be more educated on how to make chord progressions better and why it makes they better, for example where to add in 7th or 9th chords and why i should add them in at certain times.

Professional Areas for Development

I think a professional area for development for me is I think I take my job roles too seriously, which could be beneficial in some workplaces, but for example when my job role was as a manager I feel as if I took over a few there bands and became the manager of everyone and left others without much to do, again this could be beneficial for some job roles but for the ones we were completing I think I should have just stuck to my band and let others do their job too.

Another professional area for development is that I think I need to work on my time management skills, for example with coursework and work that we need to complete I feel as I am always a little behind everyone else and I can't catch up then when I have to complete it in my own time it will always end up late or not fully completed.

What Went Well Creatively

I think one thing that went well creatively is that our band had varied influences and music tastes but it worked in our favour because our music tastes were quite similar so this helped in the song picking process as it became easy t find songs that we all liked to play

another thing that went well creatively was that us working as a band brought us closes as friends so this meant that we had a better time working together, for example with the other band the  lead singers would get in a lot of arguments and didn't like each other very much and this reflected in their performance, however everyone in our band liked each there so we enjoyed performing together.

What Went Well Professionally

I think something that went well professionally is that we used our studio time effectively when recording, for example we only had 3 retakes of the band performances and 2 vocal retakes, and our band ended up finishing early giving us time afterwards to listen back to everything

I think another thing that went well professional is that when getting to each venue we acted very professional, for example we didn't mess around and we made sure that everything was set up right, we also made Sure that we were on time for everything and that we knew were all of our band members were at all times just in case we were called on.

What Did Not Work Well Creatively:

I think something that did not work well creatively was the 3rd backing harmony in to make you feel my love, when watching videos back it doesn't sound like it was in key with the rest of the vocals and made the vocal section sound messy, it also messed up the lead singers vocals and made her go off key sometimes.

Another thing that did not work well creatively was that our band had quite slow but long songs so it made the set sound quite bring until our last song, this also impacted our stage presence as we couldn't move around alt to slow songs so overall it made the set sound calm but boring.

What Did Not Work Well Professionally:

I think something that didn't work well professionally was my band would frequently become distracted, for example in rehearsal sessions we would run through the set once then either not practice anymore r become distracted and start playing other songs, this worked in our favour when we were trying to pick songs to do but after we had our set we would become more and more distracted.

Another thing that did not work well professionally was communication in our band, whilst in the song deciding stage of our rehearsals there would only be a few people suggesting songs whilst others would just get shut down or not speak because others were speaking o
